Officers from the Barwon Traffic and Highway Patrol conducted Operation Wreck on Friday and Saturday, targeting hoon behaviour in Moree.
Officers inspected 24 vehicles and issued 21 defect notices. Police also conducted random drug testing which resulted in eight positive drug tests, including an interstate truck driver who allegedly returned a positive reading for methamphetamine.
Police also issued 30 traffic infringement notices and suspended three licenses.
Superintendent Robert Ryan, Region Commander of the Traffic and Highway Patrol, says it’s imperative all road users maintain their vehicles to Australian standards and drive in a safe manner. These types of operations will be stood up anytime and anywhere to ensure all road users are safe.
