The $175,000, 18-carat gold Emirates Melbourne Cup will visit Mungindi next week as part of its fourteenth annual Tour of Australia and New Zealand.
On Thursday the 25th The Cup will take front and centre stage at a BBQ lunch hosted by the Mungindi Jockey Club at the local RSL, before going on to visit several local icons including the Mungindi Racecourse and the One Ton Post.
Mungindi Jockey Club Vice President, Sam Heagney says the community is excited to host the Emirates Melbourne Cup Tour and is looking forward to celebrating the history and culture of the race that stops a nation.
He says we have a great day planned for residents looking to see and experience the Emirates Melbourne Cup culture firsthand. Being a part of the Tour is a fantastic opportunity for locals and the wider district to gather and support each other through our love of horses and racing.
