The annual Australia Day road safety campaign, Operation Safe Return, will commence tomorrow and will conclude on Tuesday 26.
Barwon LAC Commander, Acting Superintendent Kylie Chinnery has made a personal appeal to all road users to act responsibly over this period.
Officers attached to Traffic and Highway Patrol Command as well as all other operational police will be monitoring driver behaviour with double demerit points applying to all speed, occupant restraint and helmet offences detected during this time frame.
Amongst other precautions Commander Chinnery said to "Obey speed limits and drive to the road conditions and to look out for driver-reviver stations and take advantages of their facilities."
